Father's Day

Last Sunday was Tony's FIRST Father's Day. I wanted to make something special from Gabby. My mom found this adorable handmade father's day card online. When she showed it to me I knew I had to make one for Tony from Gabby!

Here are pictures of the card making process:

I wanted to do something different from me for Father's Day. I didn't want to get Tony a power tool or a new electric razor or anything cliche like that. I opted for a tasty treat from Edible Arrangements in Keller.

I picked it up first thing Saturday morning and stashed it at my mom's house because it had to be refrigerated and I was going to be gone all day...plus I didn't want Tony to see it. I had to show it to him the night before, which was fine. It was only like an hour before Father's Day began so it still counted :) The arrangement had chocolate covered strawberries, grapes, bananas, pineapples, apples, and oranges. We dove in Sunday night for dessert. It was delicious!

Ear Piercing

Our pediatrician told us to wait until Gabby was 8 weeks to pierce her ears. She was 8 weeks as of last Tuesday. I was feeding her on the couch last Wednesday morning and Tony suggested we get her ears pierced that day. Sure why not? We've heard horror stories from friends about doing it when they're toddlers (our niece Elizabeth included), so we decided to do it while she's super young so she won't remember it and hate us forever. We went to Sweet and Sassy in Southlake. It wasn't that expensive at all. We decided to get flower shaped earrings in her birthstone, crystal. Just an FYI to those parents who want to get their daughter's ears pierced: get the surgical steel earrings in case of allergic reactions. They gave us option of using the surgical steel or 14k gold. Luckily Tony did some research on it beforehand so we knew to do the surgical steel kind.

Before the horrible event occurred:

First ear...

She immediately started screaming. Tony was holding her and he said he's never seen tears start flowing that fast. I heard it doesn't really hurt, but it stings, but I'm sure the sound right in her ear scared her terribly.

The second ear. You can really see how mad she is in this one.

The aftermath. Tony trying to console her.

She really didn't cry that much...maybe 2o seconds tops and she was fine. We timed it so I could start feeding her right after to try to soothe her as well and that seemed to really help. She looks so cute in them! These were taken on my phone, that's why they are so small. I don't know how to fix it...sorry!

She was such a brave little girl! I think she's even cuter than before...if that even possible :)

Gabby's Blessing

Tony had the wonderful opportunity to bless Gabby last Sunday, June 12th, 2011. It just so happened that it was my father's birthday as well, which made it a little extra special to me. We had mostly family in the circle. Some of Tony's friends were able to make it too: Ramesus and his wife Anadee and Colby. We are so blessed to have had so many people be a part of her special day. Here's some pictures:

I tried to get some shots of just her. I told her to smile, and this is what I got:

No matter what I tried, she would not stop crying. Poor baby...

Now here are some pictures of the men in the circle:

From the left: Colby Schlensker, Tony and Gabby, Ramesus Stewart-Johnson

Me, Tony and Gabby, Ramesus, Anadee (his wife)

Us and Schlensk (?) I think that's what Tony calls him. Either that or dook...silly male nicknames for each other :)

Newborn photos are in!

We got Gabby's newborn photos done when she was 8 days old. For those that haven't seen them on facebook yet, here they are:

This one was just a spoof one. Her paci takes up 1/3 of her face :)

Look at her little feet!

Our wedding rings on her toes...so cute!

Our little flower girl

No tutu

A little over 7 pounds!

She's awake!

My mom really likes this one. The photographer actually bought this vanity with Gabby in mind

We really like this one.

Tony LOVES this one.

Family pictures

That's it. Hope you enjoyed them! I'm entering one of these in the Gerber generation photo contest, but I can't decide between my favorite and Tony's favorite. What do you think? I absolutely love being a mom. There is no greater joy in this world! I love that little girl so much. We're blessing her tomorrow at church so stay tuned!
